Now we're making some progress! They're tellin' us that July 11 is still possible. Whadaya think? | Enough of the "future home" stuff. We want in now!! We want to make it cozy inside... | Those shelves will hold a lot of cubby holes and a lot of yarn! Notice the very cool floors made from old barn wood. |
The duct work will have to be polished before we open; Antje noticed some smudgy hand-prints that need to be wiped away. Mr. Knitting Nest was selected for the job. What a surprise! | Something old and something new - The old column from the original structure stands against the new construction in the background. The columns are big and beautiful! | Anxious to get the new location finished, Antje pulls the scaffolding to her new office door. She's hoping the construction workers will take notice and finish her office first! |
| The original beams in the old Davis building create a great support system for our new home! The arch in the background will be the focal point for the new sales counter. | The new office (the old one was on a folding table in the middle of the store) is to the far left and to the right the structure takes shape for the social knitting area. | Finally, a cozy area where people can sit, knit, and chat in comfort. Notice there is a balcony to the back where many hours will be spent knitting in the great outdoors. |
Somebody hard at work helping create the interior walls for the new location of The Knitting Nest. That's Antje's new "private" digs in the background where she'll be hard at work writing book #2! | The storage room takes shape as a place to hold lots and lots of extra yarn. | The city says we have to build two bathrooms; one to make way for the enormous number of male knitters that will apparently be coming through the new doors... |
The new, arched-entrance on Harper Street at the corner of Cusick. We love arches! | This gorgeous arch will be the center piece for the new sales counter. Did we mention we love arches? | Progress is under way! Who's been supervising from the chairs in the back? |
Antje celebrates the first step in converting the Harper Street Loft to the new home of The Knitting Nest | Nesters will be able to knit on the outside balcony where they'll catch a wonderful view of the Blount Public Library and the greenbelt directly behind our new location. | Our first look before we tore down the wall to expose the beautiful beams |
